JD

JD grew up in Utah. After high school she moved to California and then to New Orleans, Louisiana. She fell in love with the South, especially with their way of celebrating life.

Like all people JD has experienced the passing of loved ones. She has attended several unique funerals. One funeral changed her view on the death of loved ones. While she lived in New Orleans her friend passed away and she attended what they call a “second line”, which is a complete celebration of a person’s life. It involves dancing, singing, promenading, and relating wonderful, funny stories of the loved one.

JD’s attendance at this special, second line remembrance is the reason for JD’s involvement in starting JL Memorial with her business partner, LaNan Garrido. JD wants to help relieve the overwhelming stress caused by a loved one’s passing and help people focus on the amazing person that lived. She’s excited and grateful to be able to help people in one of their most difficult times. She believes in JL Memorial and the service they provide.
